- Davis named to host the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame (2009)
- Davis residents boast the highest level of education in the state with more than 80% of the adult population completing a minimum of one year of college training and more than 60% having attained at least a four-year college degree.
- Outside Magazine named Davis one of 10 best towns to live in the nation (2005)
- Forbes.com named Davis top 25 towns to live well in the nation (2009)
- Bicycling Magazine named Davis best cycling town (2006)
- "The Today Show" named Davis one of America's Five Friendliest Cities. Standards included: safety, diversity, pedestrian and bike friendliness, as well as the presence of parks and public spaces (2008)
- The League of American Bicyclists named Davis the most bike-friendly town in the United States (2008). Davis was the first place in the nation to build a city-wide system of bike paths.
